Spring In Full Swing

A huge delay for this post after a busy April continued into May but more on the latter in next month's edition. After just three goals in the first three months of the year, April saw two further goals reached bringing the total to five overall while progress was made on many others.

As is the trend with this years posts, the starting point is the world of sport and after no attendance in March, April saw my return to Anfield as I attended the game against Newcastle which saw my unbeaten run continue with a win. Across the month, Liverpool had a mixed run of form with a heavy defeat to Arsenal followed by a narrow FA Cup replay win over Blackburn and the aforementioned win against Newcastle came ahead of a defeat to Aston Villa at Wembley in the FA Cup semi final. The month ended with a draw against West Brom and a strange loss away to Hull.

Continuing on football, Skem United ended the season on a high despite a poor start to the month with defeats to Rushall and Marine. United secured a unique home/away double over eventual champions FC United in front of a 2000 strong crowd at Stormy Corner before coming out on top in a superb Liverpool Senior Cup final battle with AFC Liverpool which ended 5-4 and ensured United secured some silverware. The season ended with a home win against Stourbridge which meant Skem finished seventh in the NPL which is an achievement in only their second season in the division.

Moving onto Rugby League which saw a huge ten game attendance across the month featuring five Super League, three Scholarship and two Academy games. Super League wise there were three superb home wins for Wigan starting with the Good Friday derby against St Helens followed by triumphs over Catalans and Warrington.

Away Days saw the Easter Monday away trip to Salford end in defeat before the away curse finally ended with a win at Wakefield, my first away success since last July. The U16 attendances saw an away defeat to St Helens followed by home losses to Widnes and Huddersfield while the Academy strolled to home victories against Catalans and Castleford as they maintained top spot in the league table. The run of games saw my goal of 125 Wigan games reached on the 11th of the month at the Catalans 19's game.

The continued success of  'Simon's Away Days' and the continuing run of 'Out and About', which has reached 14 weeks of content has seen a rise in subscribers and my goal of reaching 10,000 views edge ever closer.

My rugby league travels have certainly boosted me since the start in February and although my mixed sleeping pattern has continued, there has been some improvement with long away trips resulting in dropping off to sleep within an hour of coming home.boost I said I needed in last month's post and the questionable sleeping pattern also mentioned has improved with away trips resulting in an early night after arriving home sometimes the following day.

Gaming wise, the month has been a stunning success as not only did I continue the 100+ unlocks streak in full months but reached a haul of 122 with 80 on the Xbox One itself. Three completions came in the form of #IDARB, Zombie Driver and Trivial Pursuit all on the Xbox One.

The month also saw a new best day for TA Points as well as a new third best with the two sandwiching the best ever overall day of 27th March which still holds unlock/Gamerscore records. The two days came on the 29th and 30th with the latter taking top spot and the month got even better with the second gaming goal of the year achieved in reaching 125,000 G on the third of the month.

As with last month, there have been a few events in May at the time of writing but there are a still a fair amount to look forward to as follows...
  • Rugby wise, home games for the Academy and Scholarship against Cumbria and Midlands Academies.
  •  The senior team host Hull KR in the Challenge Cup and my fourth Magic Weekend ends the month but a new venue to add to my list of travels with it taking place in Newcastle.

A few photo highlights of the month can be seen below....
