27 Going On 28

A slight delay for this post after a busy February which ended like every second month of the year with me ageing an extra year and this time around I turned 28 on the 28th. After drawing a blank in terms of goal completion, the trend continued though good progress was made on a number of goals.

The month featured the first Liverpool attendance of the year and what a superb night it was as Liverpool secured a 3-2 win over Tottenham and the Reds left February still unbeaten in 2015 in domestic terms. However, their European campaign came to an end with the exit from the Europa League at the hands of Besiktas who triumphed in a penalty shootout. Victories over Bolton and Crystal Palace in the FA Cup keep up hopes of a trophy and a potential Wembley dream for Steven Gerrard.

Continuing on football, Skem's stay at the top of the NPL ended after being caught by teams who had played games in hand but the Blues still remain in the hunt for promotion. Two visits to Stormy Corner came in the space of three weeks with a defeat to Stamford followed by a draw against Kings Lynn.

The Super League and Academy seasons began and across the month I attended five games across three age ranges with a trio of first team games starting with a draw away to Widnes followed by a win at home to Huddersfield and finally a late loss to NRL side Brisbane in the World Club Series at the DW Stadium. At Academy level, a duo of home wins saw the U19s defeat Warrington and the U16s claim a win over Castleford. The month also saw a trip to Orrell for a special training session between Wigan and South Sydney in preparation for the World Club Series.

After the success of the first two 'Simon's Away Days' and the continuing run of 'Out and About', the coverage on Serious About Rugby League has grown with more content in each edition with new ideas each week which hopefully will lead to more success.

The return of my rugby league travels has been the boost I said I needed in last month's post and the questionable sleeping pattern also mentioned has improved with away trips resulting in an early night after arriving home sometimes the following day.

Gaming wise, the fact that the month is the smallest of the year meant the run of 100+ unlocks per month would be hard to maintain which proved true with a haul of 82 unlocks across the month while the sole milestone came in the form of 180,000 TA points. However, there was one main positive as the completion of Costume Quest 2 pushed me closer to my all-time goal of 50 completions.

As I write this post nearly halfway through March, events from the first 11 days of the month have included trips to Hull KR and Castleford with Wigan which will be discussed in the next post but for the rest of the month the plans are as follows...
  • A third trip to Yorkshire as I visit Leeds Rhinos (20th) sandwiched between home games against Hull FC (13th) and Wakefield Wildcats (27th).
  • Academy games against London U19s (14th) and potentially St Helens U19s (21st)
