What A Difference A Year Makes

A year ago this week, I began a three-month course of counselling due to suffering from minor depression, anxiety and social anxiety.

However after being told in April that I was as cured as was naturally possible it was ruined by a really bad last five months of the year but now I can officially admit that the problems that I suffered last year are non-existent.

In my last post, I highlighted that I had found a lovely girl who makes me happy and who I make happy so after another successful night which has included the early success towards another goal it seemed a good time to post an update.

Firstly, we went out on our second proper date to a great Indian restaurant called Raj Gate which I had previously visited for Mum's 50th last month and as expected the service was immaculate as was the cuisine and ambiance.

So we went for a walk afterwards and in passing near Holland Hall, we were offered a free calendar by a man walking past so accepted the offer and gladly as it was expertly designed too so will display it at home and it will be a quirky way of remembering the date.

Forward to what is gradually becoming our second home in the Polaris where we had a quick drink before walking up to mine and basically spending time together cuddled while playing on Assassin's Creed III  before walking her home and sharing a lovely kiss as we parted.

She has very quickly gone from being a girl I was nervous and quiet with on our first meeting to my girlfriend who even when it is only a couple of hours since we parted I miss so much because of how much she has changed me without even knowing.

It is nice to have someone who I can talk to about anything and who I can have fun with wherever we go be it for a meal or just for a quiet walk around the block I guess the best way to sum it up is that I have 'finally found what I have been looking for'.

The other success was my first three sales on Amazon Marketplace which after fees sees me earn a nice £31.40,not too bad for the sake of £2 in postage costs as well as more space on the shelves in my room.

This also means the goal of £100 in sales for the year is already a third to its completion with 2013 still at its early stage so this year is looking better each day with 2012 in the history books.

Nice Guys Don't Always Finish Last

One of my goals for the year was to find a girlfriend and for once have a long term relationship which would be a nice change from my checkered past with girls.

As I write this I have just had possibly the best weekend of my life as having met up last week for a drink with the sister of one of my exes, we decided to become a couple due to the meet up and the resulting chats showing us that not only did we have a lot in common but that we really liked each other romantically.

Saturday

A trip to the Red Robin in Wigan for a meal for what would serve as our first date was a complete success as the meal was delicious, she had Potato Skins and I had Sweet Chilli Prawns as starters and for the main course we both chose a dish called the 'Chicken New Yorker' which was chicken pieces covered in cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce which tasted exquisite.

We sat chatting between courses which saw us get to know each other a lot better and also arranged to meet up the following day. After the meal, we went for a nice walk along Robin Park before getting the bus back to Skem. As it was late I decided to walk her home as the gentlemanly thing to do and as we parted we shared a lovely kiss.

 Sunday

One of the things we have in common is our love of LFC and normally I would have watched the game alone at home in 3D but today I went to the Polaris with her to watch and have a drink and even though it was a disappointing result , we had a good time and for once the result wasn't the important thing it was that I had watched it with someone who makes me smile.

After the game, we then walked up to spend a couple of hours round at my house and watched the Arsenal v Man C game while 'making out' to sort of see what each of us liked and didn't like when it came to kissing and also to have some fun too.

After that I walked her home as I didn't like the thought of her walking home alone in the dark and on the way she said she was going to a visit a friend so I walked her to her friend's house and we chatted a lot.

One of the main reasons that I like her so much is that she is a talkative girl and with me being a tad shy at times it is nice to have that someone to eradicate the shyness.

Hopefully this weekend is the foundation of what will be a long and happy future and will prove that good things come to those who wait.

2013 Begins With A Party

Last night, I spent the countdown to 2013 thinking of all the things I had failed to do during 2012 which ranged from reaching accolades on my XBOX 360 to returning to driving and furthering my career.

However with every fail there is also a brighter side as I reflected on things I had achieved which were not planned at the end of 2011 such as coming back to writing and reading more books.

This year I have set myself 54 goals to achieve and hopefully I will not be sat here next year saying that I had failed on many of them.

I started the year in a great mood which for me people would say is a rarity but hey that's their opinion and this afternoon I went to a party for my Nan's 80th Birthday and gave her a special calendar I had designed to commemorate the past 80 years and thankfully she liked it.

During the party I noticed that apart from my immediate family and a couple of relatives, the majority I didnt speak to much or didnt see much during the four hour event. This made me wonder whether in the past year I hadnt connected with family enough and must be something I should change this year.

Even so it was a good afternoon in which I saw some relatives I hadnt seen for a long time and also had a good time for a change.
