Rapid Month Sees Limited Success

January is over already and it seems like just weeks ago it was New Year's Day, hang on it was! Silly me, it was four weeks ago but what a rapid four weeks it has been to start the year even though sadly positives are not rich in amount.

The year began with 40 goals of which some are continuations from previous years such as losing weight, walking longer distances, continuing sporting attendances and gaming milestones and due to many being long range goals, there have been none completed in the first month.

After a number of Anfield attendances at the back end of 2014, Liverpool viewings in January were limited to TV or streaming but the results are the main thing. The Capital One Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea was the only negative of a good month for my team with victories over AFC Wimbledon, Sunderland and Aston Villa coupled with cup draws with Bolton and Chelsea and a New Year's Day draw with Leicester.

A new year means the new rugby league season is on the horizon but in pre-season, Wigan sadly lost their two January friendlies at Leigh and St Helens but the despite the losses it was good to be in attendance for both to add to my run of games which currently sits at 108 overall.

The trips to Leigh Sports Village and Langtree Park allowed me to test out my new idea for the year - 'StattoSi Out and About' which has been received well as a feature on Serious About Rugby League for whom I have now been a part of for around six months.

A poor regular season meant my NFL team Washington Redskins season ended in December so no coverage for them but my final team and closest to home is Skem United who remain top of the Evo-Stik League at present with a nice points cushion but having played more games than all of their rivals so far. January saw just one home game meaning a single attendance from myself as Buxton claimed a victory but away results have been fairly decent so a positive overall.

Personally, my writing is earning me some good coverage but there is no career progress yet this year so more work is needed on that front literally but the stresses of application rejections and a limited social life have caused a severe lack of a good sleeping pattern. Some days see more sleep between 7am-2pm than during the night due to a lack of tiredness at night which is something that will need to change.

The return of my rugby league travels may be the boost I need to increase motivation and a normal sleeping pattern but if not surely it'll be better than no boost at all. There has been some boost though with a good start to 2015 in terms of gaming.

January continued the trend of 100+ unlocks across the month and a first completion of the year in Another World (X1) last week edges me closer to my all time goal of 50 completions. This year will hopefully be as notable as its record breaking predecessor but only time will tell.

A return feature from last year is the upcoming events which for February are as follows...
  • The trip to Widnes (5th) for the opening game of Super League 20
  • Home games against Huddersfield (13th) and the World Club Series game against Brisbane (21st)
  • My 28th Birthday of course which is a strange one number wise becoming 28 on the 28th and on the day of the week I was born- Saturday
  • Home games for Skem against Stamford (7th) and Kings Lynn (21st) - potentially Matlock (14th) but is subject to Wigan Academy as below.
  • Academy games at Orrell - Warrington U19s (14th) and Castleford U16s (28th).
A few photo highlights of the month can be seen below....
